Submissions

The Commission on Patient Safety and Quality Assurance was established by the Minister for Health and Children, Ms Mary Harney TD, in January 2007 to examine and make recommendations on an overall framework for the delivery of a quality health service in a safe environment.

Key issues under consideration include but are not limited to: the role of the patient/public in quality and safety issues affecting the delivery of health services, clinical and managerial leadership and accountability, open disclosure of adverse incidents to patients, critical incident reporting, statutory licensing of public and private healthcare providers and the governance of regulatory bodies.

The Commission seeks the views of the public and key stakeholders on the issues within its remit. Submissions should be focused as follows:
